Ressurection
Fifty years passed after the tragic betrayal of Kikyou and InuYasha. InuYasha lay pinned to the Goshinbuko [Tree of Time] while Kikyou's soul remained in the after-life with the jewel that she had burned with her body as a last attempt to rid of it. All remained well in the Sengoku Jidia [Feudal States Era] until Higurashi Kagome (Kikyou's reincarnation), arrived by falling through the well on her fifteenth birthday.

With Kagome she brought the Shikon no Tama [Jewel of Four Souls]. At that time, she did not know it was in her body. The jewel had managed to have been reborn in Kagome's body after Kikyou's soul was reincarnated. Kagome was found out to be Kikyou's reincarnation by Kaede [Kikyou's younger sister] and she managed to unseal InuYasha from Kikyou's arrow.

During this time, Kikyou's ashes remained in a small jar in the ground where her temple stood in place that the villagers had erected for her. They did this to respect her memory and for what she had done for their village half a century ago. When the jewel was restored and shattered, a witch youkai [demon] called Urasue sought to bring Kikyou back to life from the dead and control her to have the miko collect the Shikon no Tama for her. Stealing Kikyou's ashes and grave soil from the temple, Urasue then made an exact replica to Kikyou's former body out of clay then fired it in the kiln. The body arose from the kiln but Urasue noticed a large problem. The body could not move on its own accord for Kikyou's soul had been reincarnated into Kagome, thus making the new clay mold nothing but a body. Urasue was furious and tried to pry the magical herb that allowed the body to work but the body would not let go of it.

Urasue then saw the body of Kikyou move on its own accord when Kagome screamed while she, Kaede and InuYasha were being attacked. Urasue hurried to where Kagome's voice was heard and Kikyou's body pointed to the girl's voice. Urasue percieved that Kagome was Kikyou's reincarnation. Stealing, Kagome from the group and placing her in a mix of herbs and magic to draw out the soul and place it in Kikyou's new body, Kikyou's soul began to leave Kagome's body. Eventually, the soul was extracted and Urasue was astonished when she noticed and felt the pain, anger and bitter-hatred Kikyou's soul held when InuYasha arrived.

Kikyou's soul begged InuYasha not to say her name for if he did, she would be forced to be ressurected. InuYasha, too surprised at seeing his ex-lover, whispered her name, 'Kikyou.' Kikyou's soul immediatly rushed to the new body and with a burst of blue light, Kikyou was reborn. Kikyou immediately killed Urasue with her purification powers. Kikyou then stole a bow and quiver of arrows from her older sister Kaede and tried to kill InuYasha. At this time, Kikyou still thought that InuYasha had killed her and InuYasha still thought Kikyou had been the one to betray him. Kikyou then walked towards him and grabbed InuYasha's shoulders.

Just as she did to Urasue, she burnt InuYasha with her purification powers. InuYasha screamed in pain and drew away, swearing at Kikyou when she readied the arrow to finish off her lover. Suddenly, Kikyou's left shoulder ripped open and the wound she died of fifty years ago appeared, bleeding. Kikyou held her hand to the wound try and stop the blood and screamed; 'Why did you betray me, InuYasha?! from Episode 15: Hiun no Miko Kikyou Fukkatsu [Return of the Tragic Priestess Kikyou].

InuYasha yelled at Kikyou, 'What are you talking about? Are you dull? You betrayed me!'- InuYasha; Episode 15: Hiun no Miko Kikyou Fukkatsu [Return of the Tragic Priestess Kikyou].

Kaede grew curious and asked Kikyou and InuYasha who betrayed whom. InuYasha said Kikyou had tried to shoot him at the Goshinbuko where they were supposed to meet. Kikyou screamed that InuYasha was a liar and told how she had waited in the field he had told her to go to and wait instead of at the tree but he had attacked her from the behind. She then accused him of giving her the fatal wound on her shoulder and said he had stolen the jewel from her. InuYasha denied he had ever touched Kikyou and said she had betrayed him. Kikyou called him a liar and shot another arrow at him. InuYasha raised the transformed Tessaiga and blocked the arrow but it began to pierce the sword. The sword then changed into its useless form and the arrow began to pierce InuYasha's chest, trying to strike through his heart that would kill InuYasha.

At that moment, Kagome began to call back her soul. Kikyou felt her soul returning to her reincarnation and hurried away down the mountain before all of her soul returned to Kagome. InuYasha ran after Kikyou just as she slipped over the edge from being too weak after having most of her soul taken. InuYasha told Kikyou to return herself and her soul to Kagome and to not continue as she was. Kikyou is obviously hurt by this, hearing InuYasha say to her pratically that he wanted her gone and wanted Kagome. Hurt beyond comprehension, Kikyou screams,

'My soul will never know peace until I see you dead!'-Kikyou, Episode 15: Hiun no Miko Kikyou Fukkatsu [Return of the Tragic Priestess Kikyou]. Kikyou released her spiritual powers through her hand, burning InuYasha's claw which caused him to let go of her. Kikyou then plummeted to the watery abyss bellow, while a shocked and horrorified InuYasha lay on the edge of the mountain side.
