In Her Defense
Many Anti-Kikyou fans have very incohorent and argumenitive reasons as to why they and other fans should hate Kikyou. Here, we will approach these arguments and prove their falsehoods. It is widely known that all anti-Kikyou fans are InuYasha x Kagome fans and despise Kikyou for her supposed 'interference' in the new relationship between InuYasha x Kagome. This is not true. Anti-fans then accuse Kikyou of being a 'whore', commiting adultry with Naraku or trying to kill Kagome multiple times. Let us evaluate these rumours that have caused so many anti-Kikyou fans to believe in their immature ideas.

Argument #1
Kikyou wanted InuYasha to use the Jewel to become human to get rid of her obligation to the Jewel and because she did not accept his hanyou (half-breed) heritage.

This is not true in the smallest notion. If anyone has seen Episode 147 and 148: Meguriau Mae no Ummei Renka [A Fateful Love Before We First Met], Kikyou admits she loves InuYasha. Kikyou suggested the idea to InuYasha, she never gave him options such as if he didn't do this for her, she would leave him. Kikyou does not enjoy the obligation to the Shikon no Tama [Jewel of Four Souls] but she accepts it without complaint. It was Kikyou in the first place who had the choice to aid the taijya by taking the Shikon no Tama into her own care. On a further note, Kikyou even tells InuYasha to leave her alone. In the end where the famed 'betrayal' scene is played, Kikyou's thoughts were; I trusted you. I really trusted you.- Kikyou, Episode 147-148: Meguriau Mae no Ummei Renka [A Fateful Love Song Before We Met]. click here to watch the episodes. Kikyou's reasoning was;

  • Kikyou is human and InuYasha hanyou. Their life-spans are entirely different causing a incorosive matter between the two. Not only will Kikyou die before InuYasha (he will outlive her by a few hundred years) but imagine being seventy something and looking like Hell and your lover looking like he's still 22 after half a century?
  • Kikyou could never have a relationship while protecting the Shikon no Tama. If you haven't paid attention, all her time was spent hunting demons, patrolling to surrounding village area and up-keeping the spells that surrounded the temple the Jewel was protected in. She'd have no time for InuYasha.
  • Lastly, Kikyou wanted to have a normal life with InuYasha. If the Jewel remained in the world, their relationship would be very strained. Kikyou would always be caring for others and ignoring InuYasha and InuYasha constantly worrying about Kikyou. If the Jewel was gone, then the two could settle down and have a normal life.

This was Kikyou's first [and only] relationship with a male. Ever. She does not understand how to approach InuYasha, display her feelings or even understands what she is feeling. By her asking him to wish to become a human was her own partial rationality that it would get rid of the jewel and she and InuYasha could have a normal, peaceful life together

    Argument #2
Kikyou never loved InuYasha in the beginning

Hm. Really? Then how could she have died? If Tsubaki placed a curse on Kikyou that is she ever fell in love with a man, then how did Kikyou suffer the curse then? Surely you can not fool a curse into believing you are in love; can you?

    Argument #3
When Kikyou is ressurected by Urasue, she tries to kill InuYasha then yells, 'My soul will never find peace until I have seen you dead!' Obviously, their 'love' wasn't so strong! She was just using him!

This argument is humorous. Lets try to broaden our minds a bit and use our imagination that God hath given us so kindly. Preteend you are a girl burdened to spend every moment of your life saving people, destroying very scary demons, raising your only sister and never having a single friend or boyfriend. Then, you meet this handsome guy who is actually interested in you. You begin to love him and then you realize it could never happen because not only are you bound to protect and care for a jewel that can destroy the world. Then there is the age problem of where he will out-live you by a few centuries.

You then think, 'Hn. Why doesn't he wish to become human? We can then live together for the rest of our lives with out worry and when we die, we can rest in the next-world together for eternity?'

You are so happy when he says yes to your idea. You go to meet him the next day with the jewel but before you know it, you're on the ground bleeding to death with him calling you an idiot and saying he's was using you the whole time just to get the jewel and is now going to use the jewel you've spent every minute of your teenage life protecting, to destroy your village and kill the villagers you've healed and cared for? Ignoring your own wound because you wish to save your village, you drag your dieing body back to the village to stop him only to see him with the jewel among your burning village, fleeing with it. He has betrayed you and even caused harm to your family and friends! What do you do?

Knowing you're about to die because of him, you pin him to a tree in a vain attempt to save the village and avenge yourself. But even then, you love him to much to kill him so you let him fall under a spell of eternal sleep only you can break. You're now in peace in the world of the dead when you feel your soul pushed into a fake body that looks like yours from fifty years ago. You look around and see that bastard alive and perfectly fine infront of you. What are you going to do? He killed you fifty years ago. You're gonna want to exact some revenge!

    Argument #4
Kikyou tries to kill Kagome twice in Episode 33; A Captured Kikyou. Kikyou is jealous of Kagome's and InuYasha's relationship and is trying to get rid of Kagome so she can have InuYasha.

This argument is positivley and agonizingly twisted to an anti-Kikyou fan's own perception. Lets use our imagination again, hmn? If Kikyou can hit InuYasha about thirty feet away while he is expelling the speed of a car in mid-air and strike him directly in the heart to a tree; she somehow can't hit Kagome a meter before her? Hn. Questionable. Or is it just because...She didn't try and hit her? All Kagome recieved was a tiny scratch on her right cheek [o no, the horror... -_-U].

Why did Kikyou do this? Once again, nobody reads or even tries to concieve the concept of Kikyou's thoughts, actions or even statements. Kikyou says she will never allow another person close to her. Why? Not only will it hurt the person and herself because Naraku would use that bond but because Kikyou herself thinks she is a danger to everyone because of her owned cursed fate. So how do you make everyone stop liking you? Play the villian.

Kikyou simply plays this cold, uncaring figure for she wants no emotional attachments. She knows she will have to go back to land of the dead and accepts it. Kikyou only fired the arrow to gain Kagome's attention in a cruel, cold way. Not only would Kagome not like her but InuYasha would be angry with her. Kikyou simply wanted Kagome's shikon no kakera [jewel shards]. So lets move on on to how she tried to 'finish' Kagome off by allowing Naraku's plants take her into the miasma.

If no one paid attention to the episodes/chapters, they would notice that Miroku, Sango, Kirara and Shippou all were in the same miasma and recieved nothing more but a vision of their fears. The miasma was a simple gas that induces the mind and lets it view its own fears. All Kagome suffered from was an attack of jealousy when she saw a vision of Kikyou and InuYasha happy together. So did Kikyou try and kill Kagome? No.

    Argument #5
After Kikyou tried to kill Kagome and failed, she stole Kagome's jewel shards and gave them to Naraku! She's obviously on his side!

Wow. Quite self-explanatory [the image above]. Since some people are too retarded to read and concieve the concept of the image let us explain...

Kikyou only gave the shards to Naraku because she knew that only she could destroy Naraku at that time for Onigumo's heart still resided within him, rendering him incapable of doing harm onto her. Kikyou's reasoning was that she would allow Naraku to complete the jewel and then when it was restored, Kikyou would destroy Naraku then purify the jewel. A very well-formatted plan. So is she on Naraku's side? No. Why would she help some one who killed her and took her only chance of being happy and in love?

    Forward?
