Saying good-bye and promising to see her at the Goshinboku tomorrow to make his wish, InuYasha left Kikyou. Kikyou went to the shelter that housed the Shikon no Tama and began to purify it for tomorrow. Naraku was now alive and had watched and listened to the plans on the day tomorrow. Seeing InuYasha leave and Kikyou alone, Naraku quickly changed his voice and form into that of InuYasha's and stood outside of the hut.

Kikyou: Who is it?
Naraku: Its me, Kikyou.
Kikyou: Whats wrong? Did something happen?
Naraku: I cant stand the waiting. Say Kikyou...Can you make me human right now?
Kikyou: Don't be so impatient. The night is alive with evil. The Shikon no Tama will be used after the sun rises.
Naraku: A-Alright. The do it right after sunrise, okay?
Kikyou: [smile] You're incorrigible. Hm? InuYasha?

Naraku left, leaving Kikyou thinking it had been InuYasha. Now Kikyou and InuYasha would be sperated due to the fact they would go to the Goshinbuko at different times.



At sun rise, Kikyou left Kaede telling her she was going to get more herbs for her eye. Kaede watched Kikyou leave, worried. Kikyou began running through the forest, upset because she knew she was late. Going to the Goshinboku, Kikyou sighed and frowned when she noticed InuYasha wasn't there. She then joked to herself that InuYasha was always late and had probably over slept.

Leaving the tree, Kikyou walked to the field behind the forest, looking for InuYasha. Stopping, Kikyou placed the jewel into her other hand and extracted the lipstick InuYasha had given her. Tsubaki's curse was now complete; Kikyou's powers were at their weakest now because of her love for InuYasha and she had no way to sense Naraku.



Rubbing the lipstick on her finger, she went to place some of the lipstick on her lips when her shoulder was then slashed open. The shell flew out of her hands and was grabbed by Naraku who was now in the disguise of InuYasha. Naraku crumbled the shell in his hand and laughed.

Naraku: Even if you make yourself pretty by using something like this, your true nature will not change.
Kikyou: W-what?
Naraku: Rouge doesn't become you at all. The spattered blood of youkai should be good enough for you.
Kikyou: [sob] InuYasha...?
Naraku: Keh! Idiot! I never planned on becoming human. Thanks for the Shikon no Tama. I appreciate it. I'll have to make this absorb more hate-filled blood. I'll go massacre the villagers.
Kikyou: Curse you...InuYasha.! Did you intend to decieve me from the very beginning? Were your words a lie?! [Kikyou remembers their kiss and his words] Curse you...Curse you!!

Leaving Kikyou in the field, Naraku hurried to the village and entered the shrine the Shikon no Tama was usually held in. Placing the jewel in its regular place, he swiftly changed into the form of Kikyou and went to find InuYasha.



InuYasha appeared at the Goshinbuko at the time he was told the night before. He called out for Kikyou. Suddenly as he presumed she wasn't there, he heard;

Naraku: So you've come, hanyou.

Kikyou had promised never to call InuYasha a hanyou ever again. InuYasha stiffened and hurt and anger was obvious in his facial expression.

InuYasha: Kikyou...What did you just say...?
Naraku: I said "hanyou". Are those ugly dog ears of your's incapable of discerning of what I say?
InuYasha: You...
Naraku: I would never let a hanyou like you have the Shikon no Tama! I will destroy you here and now! Die, InuYasha! Meet your end, hanyou!

InuYasha leapt away and fled from the scene, furious. Naraku rid of his Kikyou disguise and hid into the forest, intent on watching the scene from a good distance. Flying through the air, his heart broken, InuYasha was turmoiled between shock, hurt and fury.



InuYasha[thoughts]: Were you just decieving me the entire time?! Were you just using me?!

Now InuYasha remembers Kikyou saying she would never call him a hanyou ever again.

InuYasha: You said that, didn't you? But...But why did you after everything...!

Kikyou is currently dragging her dieing body through the forest, her blood splattering the ground with blood. InuYasha attacks the village and enters the shrine. He take the jewel and leaps out of the village, intending to run away. Kikyou at this time sees InuYasha with the jewel and running while the hut is burning down. Extracting her bow, she readies to fire him with the arrow.

Kikyou: InuYasha!

InuYasha turns and looks at Kikyou in mid-flight while she gives him a furious, hurt-betrayed look . Time freezes as the two lovers silently ask each other 'why'.

Kikyou [thoughts]: I trusted you...I really trusted you!
InuYasha [thoughts]: I never doubted you, not even once! But you...

The two let go of each other's gazes. Kikyou screams InuYasha's name and fires. The arrows pierces InuYasha in the heart, pinning him to the tree. Yet Kikyou does not purify InuYasha but instead puts him into a sleep. She still loves him even then and wont kill him. InuYasha starts to die;

InuYasha: Kikyou...How could...you...

Kikyou falls to the ground, dieing from her blood lost. Kaede runs to Kikyou, and tries to start healing her. Kikyou damns InuYasha and tries to once again purify the jewel but it is far too tainted from the love turned to hatred due to the betrayal of the two lovers.



InuYasha finally is almost dead but thinks;
InuYasha [thoughts]: Am I going to die like this? [here he remembers all their moments] Oh well... That's all right by me... Kikyou, even though things turned out this way...I...still...

InuYasha then dies. Kikyou gasps in pain and turns to Kaede, ordering her to burn her body with the jewel. Staring at InuYasha one last time, Kikyou then died from her fatal wounds. The jewel was burnt with her body and Tsubaki's curse was complete.
